As a former school teacher who left the profession to pursue a full-time career in wedding photography, it's been one of my professional goals to combine my love of teaching & photography by offering workshops that inspire others. As a self-taught photographer, I found it difficult to find quality resources explaining how to apply photography theory while shooting & how to edit to achieve the look I wanted in my work. Last year I spent weeks developing courses that I believe provide total beginners & amateurs with the basic knowledge & skill set to learn the theory & art of photography and accelerate their learning. I was completely overwhelmed by the interest and success of the workshops. What I didn't anticipate was how much I would learn & grow as a professional from this experience. This season I'm excited to be offering BEGINNER & WEDDING workshops again, and also ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING in the off-season when my schedule permits. See details below regarding our next WEDDING WORKSHOP and please check back regularly for the latest workshop announcements!

Designed for amateurs with some skill who want to learn how to get the most from their photographs by shooting in manual using natural light, and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to run a successful photography business. Morning session covers basic technical photography theory including exposure, composition & focus. We will also be discussing white balance and the power of shooting in RAW vs JPEG. Lunch is included. Afternoon session covers various aspects of running a successful wedding photography business. We will touch on topics such as registering a business, branding, building a portfolio, marketing strategies, booking clients, contracts and policies, corresponding with clients, tips for staying organized, our approach to photographing a wedding day, workflow and delivery of the final product to the client. Following a group dinner (also included) we will travel to a nearby outdoor location (weather permitting) to capitalize on golden hour lighting. Participants will develop a better understanding of how to illuminate and pose subjects, and how to coach clients through a session by watching Maigan photograph a bride & groom and engagement. Participants will then have the opportunity to apply skills in a hands-on-learning environment with constructive feedback and coaching. Participants are free to use images from session in their own portfolio providing all vendors involved are given proper credit. Workshop notes and numerous resources will be made available to participants. Must have own DSLR camera and at least one lens. Please come at least 2 fully charged batteries and at least 64 GB of memory. NOTE: For those interested in attending both the Beginner workshop AND Wedding Workshop, please understand there will be a lot of overlap with regards to technical theory. Each workshop will include entirely different models though, so you are more than welcome to attend both sessions if you are looking to build your portfolio and like the idea of reiterating the technical theory. To receive your registration package please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject WEDDING WORKSHOP. Limited spots available! REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JULY 1st 12:00pm
